How Can You Become A Member Of New Horizons Credit Union?

It´s easier now than ever. If you live, work, or attend school in Mobile, Baldwin,  Washington, Clarke, Monroe or Escambia County you are eligible for membership at New Horizons Credit Union. You can also join New Horizons Credit Union if you are related to a current member or if you work for a "member company".

If you have any questions about your eligibility, please contact us at (251) 316-3240 or (800) 824-3610. Or, you can stop by one of our branches and speak with one of our Member Service Representatives.

Once a member - Always a member

As long as your credit union account remains open, you remain eligible for membership for life. If you are already a member, encourage your family members to join so they can share in the benefits of membership.

Member Owned

Credit unions are true not-for-profit cooperatives. This means that every member is automatically an owner, and ownership has its Advantages. This includes lower loan rates, higher savings, and reduced fees for services.

Member Operated

Unlike other financial institutions that are owned and operated by stockholders with the objective of making a profit, credit unions are not-for-profit cooperatives operated by a volunteer Board of Directors. The Board of Directors is elected by the members, and each member, regardless of the amount of his deposits, has one vote in the election.

Insured Deposits

Your deposits up to $350,000.00 are protected by the highest level of combined federal/private share savings insurance available. American Share Insurance provides $250,000.00 in coverage on top of the $100,000.00 in coverage provided by the National Credit Union Administration. IRA´s are insured separately and are also protected up to $350,000.00.
